How to Thrive as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist

How to thrive and flourish as a Dental Hygienist/Therapist and successfully grow, develop, and live in our purpose.

Having practised for the past 15 years in differrent dental servings, I quickly realised that becoming a successful dental hygienist/therapist, who is booked months in advance takes more than just University qualifications. Certain skills and qualities are just as important.

Education- Forms the basis of our journey. Continuing with our education and staying up to date is essential in providing the best care to our patients. By providing up to date advice and treatment.

Honing in on pain-free treatment will be one of your biggest assets. Because patients want pain-free treatment. This will take you to another level as a clinician!

Being honest and transparent will help patients gain trust in you and feel comfortable enough to come back to see you and happily pay the fee that's charged for their treatment.

It's important that we are compassionate and patient. And that we respect and listen to our patients so that we can provide them with the best care possible.

Having an excellent bedside manner goes a long way in dentistry as most of our patients are nervous. Making them feel relaxed will ensure your patients have a great experience!

Most importantly working in a cohesive dental  setting builds a strong bond between colleagues and ensures effective sign posting and referral of patients to the appropriate clinician.

Reception and administration staff have a important role to play as they are the first line of communication between patients and the practice. The whole dentla team working together will ensure the practice is working effectively.

Recognising the importance of the dental team will help the practice run smoothly.
